The era that defined Wall Street is finally, officially over. Michael Lewis, who chronicled its excess in Liar’s Poker, returns to his old haunt to figure out what went wrong.

The article, aptly termed The End by Michael Lewis, author of Liars Poker is the best description of what lead up to the economic crisis we are currently facing. Having spent time on Wall St when this book was written and in the mortgage industry, in Orange County, CA (Ground Zero for the crisis), this article clearly explains how and why the mortgage debacle lead to a global economic crisis and almost wiped out the US banking sector.

What has happened will almost certainly lead to a complete legislative overhaul of the US Financial system. OpenCongress.org is great site to follow what is happening in Washington.
